BOOTHE: It's about time

To Mr. John Pankratz, Eastside Highway District:

Thank you for your letter “To All Interested Parties” informing us that the court case for Boothe Park has been postponed from May 19, 2014, to October 20, 2014.

We were not aware that a court case was even pending. We would appreciate further updates on this matter.

We are glad to know that something is finally being done to give Boothe Park back some of the original 200 front feet on Lake Coeur d’Alene that was deeded to Eastside Highway District by the Boothe family for a free public park and boat launch.

It has been very discouraging to see how neighbors of the park have encroached on its boundaries.

One neighbor is actually claiming that the boat launch is on his property.

He convinced the Kootenai County Commissioners to remove the docks.

Without the docks, the boaters, mainly fishermen, aren’t able to easily launch their boats.

This forces them to go elsewhere and not use the Boothe Park Boat Launch as it was intended. And without the docks, the beach is more risky for little kids and dogs that swim there.

The K. C. Commissioners have done the same thing at Black Lake — there was an access dispute, so the Commissioners removed the dock that allowed boaters to use the public park there. What a way to “listen to the people!”

Thank you for your attention to our concerns.
