ST. REGIS - The St. Regis Tigers clawed their way all the way to divisionals, and now have chewed through multiple competitors to get to state.

The team will head to Great Falls on May 30 for their last meet of the year.

The weather was warm for the track competitors at a steady 60 degrees. Although it rained on the second day of competition, the team was able to get all their events in.

Even though the boys track stars struggled some down the stretch, Trevor Lowry made the trip.

Lowry placed fifteenth in high jump at 5-4.

The sweet spot for this team has been with the girls, as individual competitors have won multiple events.

It’s been the Arianna Jones, Jasmine Jones and Gabby Moeller show for much of the season. These girls combined to be the bright spot of the St. Regis track team for the 2013-2014 season.

In team scoring, the girls finished the day in tenth place with 16 points.

Moeller competed in multiple events, winning one of them.

In the shot put event, Moeller finished in thirteenth and had a final throwing distance of 28-2 3/4.

Moeller was eleventh in the same event with a throw of 96-5.

Moeller also won the high jump taking first place with a jumping distance of five.

Arianna Jones was third in javelin, throwing the pole for a distance of 118-8. This is somewhat a slide for her considering she is usually a first place finisher.

At the very least Moeller will move on to state competition next week likely dragging Arianna Jones with her.

Despite having a small team, the St. Regis Tigers held their own for much of the season being a force to be reckoned with.

Looking forward, the Tigers hope to add more firepower next season.

With the loss of Arianna Jones, however, it is the perfect opportunity for any of the young Tigers to step up and seize the opportunity.

Even though there is one more week left, the Tigers will need to come out swinging.

The state meet brings together the best of the best of what Class-C has to offer.

Champions are made throughout the year through endurance, toughness and mentality.

The Tigers will need all three as they look to come back to St. Regis wearing the crown.

However, if they don’t, there is always next year. There is no reason to not look back on the 2013-2014 season and think it was anything but a success.

Hanging your head up high is what gives these student athletes the desire to participate in school sports anyhow.
