Coffee company helps raise $12,146 for sick baby

Dutch Bros. Coffee of Coeur d'Alene and community members banded together recently to raise $12,146 to help the Gallegos family cover medical expenses for their newborn son, Saul, who was born with a heart defect.

Saul’s parents, Heather and Zack Gallegos, are customers at Dutch Bros. Coffee of Coeur d’Alene, and when a friend of the family contacted local Dutch Bros. owners, Jeff and Brandi Buller seeking support, the Bullers did not hesitate to help.

"Being brand new parents to our own son, the Gallegos’s story really touched our hearts,” said Jeff. “We wanted to use our resources to help spread the word about Saul and how people could help.”

To raise funds, both Dutch Bros. Coeur d’Alene locations were donation sites. Dutch Bros. matched every dollar donated, resulting in an overwhelming $12,146.

“How the community responded was beyond anything we could imagine,” said Brandi. “Our customers blew us away by showing their support for the Gallegos family, and we can't thank them enough."

Dutch Bros. Coeur d’Alene consists of two locations: 118 W Hanley Ave. and 1680 Northwest Blvd.

The Bullers have supported various causes since opening in 2007. Local causes include The Children’s Village, Community Action Partnership Food Bank, Second Harvest Food Bank, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Dutch Bros. Coeur d’Alene employs 30 baristas.
