He was raised in Kalispell and graduated from Flathead County High School.

After graduation he joined the Air Force where he was trained in refrigeration. After his discharge he continued for a while working with refrigeration as a civilian at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo. His other sister, Diane Murphy Dumontier, passed away in 2000.

Don has two sons, Todd Holmquist of Cleveland, Ohio, and Mark Holmquist of Norfolk, Va. He leaves behind his wife, Trish, and her children, Rene, Quentin, Hayden and Lisa, as well as 12 grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends, all dear to his heart.

Don's main passion was barbecuing but he also loved fishing and children. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. on July 11 at the First Church Of the Nazarene, 1295 Whitefish Stage Road, in Kalispell.
