Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 10 years, 6 months AGO
Nicholas "Nick" F. Burns, 71, peacefully passed away at his home in Rathdrum, Idaho, with his loving wife by his side, on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, after his long, brave battle with bladder cancer.
Nick was born on April 21, 1943, in Glendale, Calif., to Vince and Shirley Burns.
In 1976, Nick moved his family to Rathdrum, Idaho. He worked hard as a machinist to provide for them.
Nick enjoyed restoring and cruising in his Ol' 1947 Ford Coupe, welding, shooting guns, fishing, boating, camping, bartending at Sweets, dancing, long haul truck driving, taking his kids and their friends to all the haunted houses he could find, pranking people, traveling with his wife, and spending quality time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 3/4 years, Pamela Jo Burns; daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Casey Pluid; son and daughter-in-law Nick and Jennifer Burns, and son Jason Burns; grandchildren Josh, Brendan, Dillon, Jaquelyne, Hans, Bodyn and Jayson. Nick also has two nieces, Lisa Lawrence and Amie Palmer; two cousins, Frank (Cork) Smidt and Tina, and many friends.
A memorial service is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at Real Life Ministries, 1866 N. Cecil Road, Post Falls, Idaho (look for his 1947 Ford Coupe). There will be a potluck meal following the service. Please bring your favorite dish to share with all of Nick's loving friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation in Nick's memory to the Pam Burns Trust Fund at any Panhandle State Bank.
