A 40-home subdivision is planned on 47 acres about six miles southeast of Kalispell off U.S. 2.
Wayne and Peggy Turner are seeking approval for the second phase of Wettington Acres, located between Swiss Drive and Redwing Court.
The Flathead County Planning Board will consider a recommendation on the preliminary plat following a public hearing on the project Nov. 12. The recommendation will be forwarded to the county commissioners for final approval.
The subdivision — planned on open vacant fields that have been used for farming — would be served by an existing public water system and individual septic systems, according to a Planning Office staff report. The property is unzoned.
There are five platted subdivisions in direct proximity to Wettington Acres Phase 2, including the initial Wettington Acres, Hayden Heights, Blue Crescent Estates, Buccaneer Acres and Redwing Acres.
Primary access to Wettington Acres Phase 2 would be from Swiss Drive and Wettington Drive via U.S. 2, with additional access to the east from Redwing Court via Smith Lake Road and Bighorn Drive.
IN OTHER business at its Nov. 12 meeting, the Planning Board will hold a public hearing on an amendment to county zoning regulations regarding home businesses. The board has been mulling changes over much of the past year as part of an overhaul of county zoning regulations.
This amendment will add language for home-occupation businesses, allowing vehicle traffic that exceeds eight vehicle trips (the current vehicle limit) but less than 16 vehicle trips all day.
Also on the agenda is a public hearing to consider a request by Lane Ross for an after-the-fact lakeshore construction permit on Little Bitterroot Lake. The permit is needed to bring into compliance previously completed mechanized aquatic weed removal adjacent to and stockpiling on three properties on the lake.
The board meets at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12, in the second-floor conference room of the Earl Bennett Building, 1035 First Ave. W. in Kalispell.
