An electrical fire damaged a house Wednesday morning on Harrison Boulevard in Kalispell.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to 307 Harrison Blvd. after a 911 call was placed just before 7 a.m. Wednesday. When firefighters arrived at the residence, light smoke was visible. Crews found an active electrical fire in the house’s main electrical panel.

Kalispell Fire Chief Dave Dedman said the fire was relatively small, but there’s significant damage to the home including smoke damage, so the residents will be displaced for a few days.

The electrical system in the house will need to be inspected and replaced, Dedman said.

“From time to time, we do see electrical fires but not on a scale like this,” Dedman said. “It was on the main breaker and internal to the electrical panel. From what we can tell, that was the source and it spread from there.”

No injuries were reported. Dedman said damages are estimated at $25,000.

The Kalispell Fire Department was assisted by West Valley Fire and Rescue and Flathead Electric Cooperative.
