ST. REGIS – According to Superior volleyball head coach Beth Janney, the team played the best game of their 2014 season at just the right time during the district tournament in St. Regis last week.

While the team did not advance to the divisional tournament this week in Butte, Janney said she was impressed with the progress the Lady Bobcats made during the season. The team beat Arlee in commanding style before being knocked out by Noxon later in the tournament. Janney said the team peaked at the right time.

“They came out and played together as a team,” Janney said. “They were moving quick, covering the floor well and talking to each other. They really came together. It was the best game of the season.”

The team ended up placing fourth in the tournament after another victory over Two Eagle River. Janney said despite not moving on, she was proud of how the team performed during the 2014 season.

“It’s tough,” Janney said. “We were feeling confident but I’m really proud of how they came together this season. They did a really good job. They really peaked during the last few weeks and it was nice to see that. They came a lot farther as a team than I expected. The level of play really improved from last year. They are competing with teams in our conference and really are at the next level.”
