• STRATA's Matteson earns Superpave certification
STRATA, with offices in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene announced that laboratory services coordinator, Ryan Matteson has achieved his Superpave Mix Design Technician Certification. The Superpave system provides advanced technicians, designers and engineers with a thorough understanding of the properties of the materials that compose asphalt mixtures, as well as the physical and mathematical processes involved in producing a successful asphalt mixture design. This certification allows Matteson to serve as a resource for state and local transportation agencies, consultants and contractors.
Matteson leads the construction materials laboratory for the STRATA offices in Spokane and Coeur d'Alene. He serves as a technical resource in all aspects of materials engineering in the paving industry, including geotechnical laboratory testing. Matteson has maintained accreditation through the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and Idaho Transportation Department, while participating in proficiency sample testing with the ASSHTO Materials Reference Laboratory and the Cement and Concrete Reference Laboratory.
STRATA provides professional environmental and geotechnical engineering, along with construction engineering, including inspection, and materials testing services for a wide variety of clients across multiple service sectors including industrial, energy, commercial, municipal, education and transportation.

• LaPlante, nurse practioner, joins Active Family Health Care
Active Family Health Care in Hayden announced the addition of Jessica LaPlante, a family nurse practitioner.
LaPlante returned to North Idaho after practicing family medicine in Kennewick, Wash. She graduated from Lakeland High School in Rathdrum and graduated from Whitworth University in Spokane, where she played collegiate softball.
She received her nursing degrees - a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science - from Washington State University. LaPlante is a certified family nurse practitioner through American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
She has experience treating a wide variety of primary care problems, with an emphasis on preventative care and wellness promotion. In addition, she has experience in emergency medicine and mental health.
LaPlante's interests include triathlons, snow and water sports, softball, disc golf, camping, music and dancing, and nutrition and cooking.
