SANDPOINT - Alcohol was involved in a deadly crash which claimed the life of a young Sagle man on the Long Bridge last August, according to an Idaho State Police report.
State police said Harrison W. Reasor was heading northbound in a Ford F-250 pickup truck when he drove left of center and crashed head-on into an oncoming tractor-trailer on the morning of Aug. 15.
After the collision, Reasor lost control of his vehicle and it overturned at least once before crossing back into the northbound lane and colliding with a cement barrier on the bridge, according to an ISP vehicle collision report.
Reasor, 20, died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Freightliner, Gurenderpal Dhillon, 44, of Saskatchewan, Canada, was not injured in the crash. Both motorists were wearing seat belts, ISP said.
Reasor's blood alcohol level was 0.094, just over the legal limit of 0.08 for an adult driver, the ISP vehicle collision report said. The legal limit to drive for a motorist under the age of 21 is 0.02, according to Idaho Code.
Drugs were not found in Reasor's system, the report said.
Although Reasor was legally intoxicated, it is not listed among the factors contributing to the 5:30 a.m. crash, according to the report. The sole factor cited by state police was Reasor driving left of center.
The investigation ruled out distraction, excessive speed, drowsiness, vehicle malfunction and other factors.
