Cd'A Senior Living becomes The Village at Orchard Ridge

The region's longest-serving retirement community has a new identity honoring the thousands of people who have lived on its campus over the years.
Coeur d'Alene Senior Living, comprised of Coeur d'Alene Homes and Heritage Place, and founded by members of the Lutheran church 93 years ago, is now The Village at Orchard Ridge.
"As the quote goes, if nothing ever changed, we would never have something as beautiful as butterflies," said Ann Johnson, executive director.
"Our new name honors our history, signifies our expansion to serve the growing community and clarifies our mission as a provider of a faith-based, loving home for older adults."
Coeur d'Alene Homes' nonprofit status remains the same in providing charitable care for those who need it. Heritage Place continues to offer low-income HUD-subsidized senior apartments.
The new name comes from the fruit orchard originally planted in 1921 with apples, plums and cherries.
"This fruit orchard continues today to be a source of beauty and fresh fruit for our residents, just as it was during the Depression era," Johnson said.
Since 1921, this senior living campus has served North Idaho by providing a faith-based home for older adults. Thanks to donations from individuals and 22 sponsoring churches, it is the only nonprofit entity of its kind in the Inland Northwest.
The Village at Orchard Ridge comprises 12 acres overlooking the Spokane River near the intersection of Highway 95 and Northwest Boulevard. The facility also owns and operates a thrift store at Fifth and Lakeside in downtown Coeur d'Alene, which has been renamed The Orchard Vintage Goods, focusing on fine quality donated items in a boutique setting.
The Village at Orchard Ridge is welcoming visitors during an open house at 624 W. Harrison Ave. on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 2-4 p.m.
