Red Hot Mamas proud of their veteran connections

As Veterans Day approaches on Tuesday, a few of the Red Hot Mamas have agreed to share information about their veteran connections in hopes of relating to and encouraging service members and civilians.
They all agree: Find a Veteran to thank!
• Pam Storebo
Age: 62
Married: 40 years, 3 children, 11 grandchildren
Degree: Associate of Arts
Red Hot Mama: Nine months
Enjoyments: God. Family. Friends. Love. Romance. Being a Wife. Quilting. Swimming!
RHM Besties: Loving each one of the Mamas and each special quality.
Pam is a RHM because she loves people and loves having fun! She also enjoys being a photographer for the Macy's adventure and acting up in her 'tough biker' role as she pushes her original chopper-walker down the route.
Veteran Husband: Steve Storebo, Sergeant E4, U.S. Air Force, 1966 - 1970
Rewards: Serving in the military for his country. Instilling patriotic values in children and grandchildren.
Family's View: Two older brothers served in the U.S. Army and Navy.
• Deborah Miranda
Veteran Son: Salvadore Patrick Miranda, Corporal, U.S. Marine Corps, 2010 to Current
Deployed: Afghanistan and Japan
Awards: Meritorious Mast And Meritorious Corporal. Nato/Isaf. C Service: 2nd Award. Global War On Terrorism. Afghanistan Campaign: 2nd Award. National Defense. Good Conduct. Combat Action.
Rewards: Making lifelong friends and knowing they have your back and are willing to die for you no matter what. Best thing he ever did.
Challenges: Isolation from family and home. He loves home.
Family's View: Indescribable pride, anger, fear and joy. The family pays a high toll.
Public Reception: Constant support.
• Kathy Hostetter
Veteran Father: William Hostetter, 1942 -1945, Aviation Ordnanceman, First-Class
Awards: Victory Medal World War II.
Deployed: Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii
Kathy's father attended boot camp at Farragut. He told a story about one of the coldest winters at Farragut, Idaho, saying men actually had icicles growing from their runny noses.
He spent most of his military years at Kaneohe Bay in Hawaii following the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was Military Police on the recovery team for the sunken ship USS Arizona. The Navy then put him in Gunnery School, where he became active in gunnery training, aviation, and other military skills.
Other veteran relatives: Veteran Grandfather, Father, and Brother, United States Navy.
• Nancy Cotter
Veteran Husband: John Cotter, U.S. Navy, 1965 - 1970
Deployed: Vietnam
Awards: Good Conduct. 5 submarine tours
Rewards: Experiences. Pride in service.
Challenges: No warm food
Family's View: Proud
Public Reception: Society did not accept, but family was great

The Red Hot Mamas is a Coeur d'Alene-based performance group which appears at parades and other events in North Idaho and beyond. They will be in New York City to perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
