Pinkerton Retirement Specialists came to Coeur d'Alene in 1997 with five employees. In 2004 it moved to a 5,000-square-foot building on Merritt Creek Loop in Riverstone with 11 employees. And now the company with 26 employees is building its national headquarters here with a 22,000-square-foot structure on the northern edge of Riverstone Pond.

Pinkerton (PRS) is a registered investment advisory firm serving clients in 30 states and managing $500 million with financial planner and research specialists giving advice to retirees and those seriously planning their retirement with a minimum of $500,000 in investable assets.

And now for the Tidbits

- Watch for news on Chamira in the Plaza Shops, Massage Envy in Ironwood Square and an expanded Vanity store in Silver Lake Mall.

- A railroad company is considering a commuter train from Coeur d'Alene to Spokane. Be nice if it went to the airport.

- Things Cd'A could use: A place that sold toy logging trucks and souvenir "toy" boats, a fast-food place near the east I-90 Sherman Avenue entry and a French-food restaurant for our French-name city.

- Last week while at a college media convention in Philadelphia I was the last person into the entry of the national mint. The security guard saw my inscribed North Idaho College coat and said, "Coeur d'Alene! My wife and I golf there. Love that floating green. Most of our silver comes from your area." Cool.

- Capitalize "navy" and "army" when referring to U.S. armed forces.

- A real headline: "Homicide victims rarely talk to police."
