POST FALLS - The public is invited to an open house for North Idaho College's new adult basic education and GED center in Post Falls on Thursday.

The event runs from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the NIC Workforce Training Center, 525 Clearwater Loop.

ABE is a program designed for individuals 16 years and older who have withdrawn from public school and want assistance to prepare for the GED test. Adults who have graduated but still have a desire to upgrade their basic skills are also served.

Tuition is free and most learning materials are provided. The ABE program allows students to progress at their own pace. The program offers small group instruction to achieve goals set for each individual student.

The Post Falls center will be a branch of the center on NIC's main campus in Coeur d'Alene, which will remain open.
