SANDPOINT — One of the oldest sports clichés says that football is a game of inches, and the inches seemed to go Blackfoot’s way, as the Bulldogs fell 42-27 last Friday in a game far closer than the final score indicated.
In fact, should No. 1 ranked Blackfoot cruise to a state title from here, a likely scenario, it won’t be hard to argue the two best teams in 4A met last Friday.
Traveling from North Idaho for a state playoff game is always tough, and was made even tougher Friday when nearly every bounce and break seemed to go to Blackfoot. Nonetheless, the Bulldogs trailed by just one point with under eight minutes left in the game, despite scores of miscues and near misses, and had a chance to tie with under a minute left.
