Local stars face off in dance competition

In a twist on the popular TV show “Dancing With The Stars,” a handful of locals “celebrities” have been challenged to show off their best waltz, samba and cha-cha moves for a panel of judges.
Whitefish Theatre Company is hosting the “Dancing With Our Community Stars” contest on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center.
The six selected community members have been rehearsing with the professional Utah Ballroom Dance Company.
The dance company will provide costumes, add some video highlights, coach the local judging panel, and put on a live dance performance.
Audience members then vote for the dancer who will win and take home the coveted mirror ball trophy.
Dancers chosen for the event include:
• Kerry Drown, principal at Whitefish High School.
• Carol Atkinson, local community advocate, philanthropist and fundraiser.
• Marcus Duffy, general manager of Great Northern Brewery.
• Paula Greenstein, owner of Wasabi Sushi Bar and The Downtown Flat.
• Mark Svennungsen, retired optometrist and current Winter Carnival King.
• Chelsi Blackwell, owner of 57 Boutique.
Judges include:
• Matt Ford, drama coach and student teacher at Whitefish High School as well as longtime actor at WTC.
• Vicki Hill, manager of Whitefish Lake Golf Club Restaurant.
• Sue Schenck, marketing and community relations at Whitefish Credit Union as well as current Whitefish Winter Carnival Queen.
Tickets are $28 with reserved seating and can be purchased at the box office or by calling 862-5371.
