EPHRATA - Barring some unforeseen bizarre circumstance, the Grant County elections are settled, and Garth Dano has defeated incumbent Angus Lee for prosecutor.

As of Monday morning, Dano has 10,380 votes to 9,053 for Lee. According to the Grant County Elections Office, only about 100 votes were still to be counted.

The Lee-Dano contest was perhaps the nastiest race of them all. Mud was slung in both directions by supporters of the candidates.

In the contest for Treasurer, Casey Cooper demonstrated that voters will listen to write-in candidates. He lost to incumbent Darryl Pheasant, 11,273-7,793, but he scored a surprising 41 percent of the vote.

In the race for the U.S. House seat in the 4th Congressional District, it appears Dan Newhouse of Sunnyside has defeated Clint Didier of Connell. Newhouse was leading 73,638-70,624 on Monday. Didier was favored 11,587-7,325 in Grant County.

In the race for 13th District state senator, Judy Warnick easily outpaced Mohammed Said, 15,876-1,787. For state representative in the same district, Tom Dent topped Dani Bolyard, 10,150-6,552.

Cindy Carter of Royal City was re-elected to county commissioner seat No. 3. She outpolled Randy R. Zolman, 10,800-6,365.

In the race for assessor, the voters retired incumbent Laure Grammer. They opted for Melissa McKnight, 10,896-6,180.

Michele Jaderlund was favored by the voters, 10,221-6,876, for Auditor, over Jacob Taylor.

All other elective office races were uncontested. The candidate named on the ballot was the winner.
