Reece helps Cards turn down Lights

HAVRE, Mont. - North Idaho College freshman Dajour Reece beat three-time All-American Ethan Hinebauch of NAIA Montana State-Northern by a 12-10 decision at 165 pounds, helping the Cardinals to a 31-16 win over the Lights on Friday.
"Dajour took control of the match and it was a dogfight from that point on," NIC coach Pat Whitcomb said. "He had some big moves and he's an athletic freshman and that's a big win for him."
Deondre Wilson (133), Bryce Weatherston (141) and Taylor Kornoely (285) won by pin for NIC.
"It was just a solid effort ... and we controlled the match," Whitcomb said.
Former Coeur d'Alene High standout Garrett DeMers beat Johnathen Dennis 10-4 at 197 for Montana State-Northern.
NIC hosts the Cardinal Duals next Saturday, facing Cerritos at noon and Highline at 2 p.m.

COEUR d'ALENE - Jordan King scored 37 points on 11-of-13 shooting from the field, including 6 of 8 from 3-point range, leading the Cardinals past the Bison in a nonconference game at Rolly Williams Court.
Jamaal Robateau scored 32 points for NIC (5-1), which shot 68 percent (43 of 63) from the field.
"It was nice to get home and play in front of our crowd," NIC coach Corey Symons said. "The shots were falling and the guys were kind of feeling it tonight, especially Jordan and Jamaal. Both of them played really well on both ends of the floor."
NIC faces Chemeketa next Friday in Portland.
