A new Java featuring coffees and pastries is set to open Monday in the former Caffe Capri in Prairie Shopping Center off Prairie Avenue between Government Way and Highway 95.
David and Lindsay Patterson also own Java on Sherman on the east side of downtown Coeur d'Alene. The new location eventually may add more foods, beer and wine.
Hot Rod building to be Timber Bistro
Rumors have surfaced about the former Hot Rod Cafe building on Seltice Way in Post Falls.
Owners of the Longhorn Barbecue in Spokane plan it to be "Timber Bistro and Pub" in March. With a full new look, it will feature wood-fired pizza, craft burgers, pastas, entrees and a full bar. Another feature will be black-tie catering. Randy Ingraham and Bill Miller also have Maggie's Restaurant in Spokane. Watch for details here later.
Chamira in Plaza Shops
Women's and juniors' clothing, shoes and accessories will be featured in Chamira. The 2,200-square-foot store will open this month in the space formerly occupied by The Painted Pony in the Resort Plaza Shops downtown.
Owner Christine Traylor came from Colville, Wash., where she gained retail clothing experience in sister store Eye for Fashion. Hours at Chamira will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Becky's Pendleton closing
After 13 years with Becky's Pendleton, Becky Martin is retiring and closing Becky's Pendleton at 421 Sherman Ave. Watch for sales there on men's and women's Pendleton clothing, blankets and accessories through Dec. 31.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Phone 664-7002.
Now for the Tidbits
- Watch for news on the Vanity store in Silver Lake Mall, The Cellar downtown, Weston Cederblom Photography and Extension Addiction Salon on Government Way, Downdraft Brewing in Post Falls, Massage Envy in Ironwood Square, North Idaho Cider on Airport Drive and Physzique Fitness in Riverstone.
- Thanks to the places that offered free meals to veterans Tuesday. Among them were Applebee's, Chili's, Red Robin, Denny's, North Idaho College and Texas Roadhouse. When you participate in this, please tip your server (about 20 percent) for the amount the whole meal would be if not free.
- I whined that despite seeing many logging trucks go through town daily no stores sell toy logging trucks. A reader responded that the Museum of North Idaho sells them and that they're made locally. However, it's closed for the season until April.
- The Associated Press Stylebook doesn't define "below" and "beneath." Webster's Dictionary has them as the first definition of each other and "beneath" is usually under something.
- A real headline: "Chick accuses male colleages of sexism."
