SCAM: Avoid electric shock

Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years, 5 months AGO

Scam call received from a company claiming to be working with Kootenai Electric. They said my power was scheduled to be shut off that afternoon for non-payment. My account is always paid on time so I told them that. They were calling from Texas. He told me this was a courtesy call and the power was going to be shut off. I firmly told him “DO NOT SHUT MY POWER OFF, MY BILL IS PAID!” and he hung up. I suspect he was going to ask for a credit card for payment to keep the power on.

I want to make people aware of this in case they receive the same call. This was at our business in Coeur d’Alene. I did confirm with Kootenai Electric that they do not have a company associated with their company that makes courtesy calls for them.
