GREAT FALLS (AP) — Police in Great Falls say a trail of quarters, coin machine parts and footprints led them to the arrest of a man suspected of breaking into a laundromat and stealing money from the change machine.

Curtis Dear, 28, was arrested on Nov. 11 and charged Monday with felony theft and criminal mischief.

Court records say the owner of the 15th Street Laundry found a crowbar and a damaged change machine when he arrived at work. About $1,500 in coins and cash was missing.

An officer followed footprints in the snow from the business to a nearby residence where court records say officers found Dear, recovered a backpack containing hundreds of quarters and a damaged coin hopper and shoes that matched the prints.

Dear told police three of his friends had committed the crime.
