COEUR d'ALENE - Coeur d'Alene Mayor Steve Widmyer started his professional career at the Best Western Plus Coeur d'Alene Inn when it was still a Holiday Inn in 1975.
On Monday, Widmyer returned to the hotel to cut a ceremonial red ribbon commemorating the completion of an extensive remodel. He was joined by representatives from Hagadone Hospitality, Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce Commodores, Post Falls Chamber of Commerce, Longwell Trapp Architects, Rann Haight Architecture and Design and staff from the hotel.
"Hagadone Hospitality always keeps their facilities top-notch and they've just done a wonderful job here," Widmyer said after the ceremony. "I'm glad to be a part of it and glad to be a part of Hagadone Hospitality's investment in the community."
Before Widmyer cut the red ribbon in the lobby of the hotel, Coeur d'Alene Inn General Manager Jason Jaeger thanked those in attendance for coming to the event, as well as those who made the remodel possible.
He also applauded the vision and leadership of Duane B. Hagadone, co-founder of Hagadone Hospitality, during the project.
"Mr. Hagadone, thank you so much for your continued commitment in helping us be one of Idaho's hospitality leaders," Jaeger said.
Jaeger spoke with The Press after the ceremony and said the remodel, which began in March, started with revitalizing the exterior of the hotel and ended with a complete overhaul of the interior. Everything from the flooring to the granite counter tops, Jaeger said, is brand new.
"It's brand-new once again, and that is just so exciting. The property looks fantastic and our team is excited," Jaeger said. "It's just great and I'm very proud."
