Fall derby is Saturday

SANDPOINT - The annual Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club Fall Derby shoves off on Saturday.

The derby runs through Nov. 30, although competition will be suspended on Nov. 27 in observance of Thanksgiving.

More than $9,500 in cash and prizes will be spread across adult competitions for rainbow and lake trout, in addition to two youth divisions. The-first place finishers in the rainbow and Mackinaw divisions will be awarded $1,500 and $1,000, respectively.

A $2,000 bonus will be divided evenly among LPOIC members who place in the adult rainbow trout competition. In the Mackinaw competition, a $150 prize will be awarded for the largest lake trout caught each day of the derby.

The entry fee is $40 for adults. Youth anglers fish for free, although pre-registration is required.

Tickets outlets in Bonner County include the Alpine Shop, Big R, the Captn's Table, Holiday Shores, Hope Marine Services, Odie's Bayside Grocery, Pend Oreille Valley Sports, Priest River Hardware and Sandpoint Marine.

Weigh-in stations will be located at the Captain's Wheel, the Captn's Table, Holiday Shores, Hope Marine, Odie's and MacDonald's Hudson Bay Resort.

The awards ceremony is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Bonner Mall in Ponderay. There will be a photo contest during the derby. Photos can be submitted for judging at the awards ceremony or emailed to photocontest@gmail.com.
