Robert Bruce 'Bob' Walker, 89

Robert Bruce “Bob” Walker, 89, passed away on Oct. 28, 2014, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Bob was born in Kalispell on Nov. 19, 1924, to Bruce and Anna (Siderius) Walker. He was a lifelong resident of the Flathead Valley. He went to school in Lakeside and high school at Flathead.

He served in the Navy during World War II and then returned to the Flathead.

He met and married Mary “Betty” Street and they settled with her son in Somers. They had a second child, daughter Patty.

Bob worked for a time at Broeders lumber, and then he and his father ran their own lumber mill in Lakeside. He also worked for a time building logging roads for the Forest Service. He worked with his son-in-law at the family mill until 2013.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He hunted, fished and hiked all his life, and was especially happy when picking huckleberries. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Joe, and wife, Linda, of Mount Vernon, Ohio; and his daughter, Patty, and husband, B.J., in Lakeside. He is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
