RONAN – A woman driving east in the westbound lane of Round Butte Road led cops on a wild chase that ended at 2:48 p.m. near Ronan Middle School.

Cops had to use a taser in arresting the driver, Delicia Favef Blackweasel, a 21-year-old native of Ronan, said Lake County Undersheriff Dan Yonkin.

It was not known why the woman was eluding cops at the time of arrest.

The chase began on rural roads in north Ronan. She then crossed Highway 93 at 95 mph, heading west on Round Butte Road, according to scanner traffic broadcast at the time of the chase.

After traveling several miles west, the driver turned around and started driving east in the westbound lane, blocking oncoming traffic off the highway, officers reported to dispatch during the incident.

Blackweasel finally slowed to 30 mph west of Ronan High/Middle School where she bailed out of the vehicle and tried to escape.

“Following a brief struggle in which the driver was tased, the driver was taken into custody,” Yonkin said.

A school contact said no one was injured but cops asked staff members and students to stay inside until the scene was clear.

It was a parent-teacher day so not many students were expected at the campus today.

Blackweasel was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, felony theft of the automobile, felony criminal endangerment along with multiple traffic offenses for the theft and subsequent pursuit which reached speeds over 90 miles per hour while the suspect drove head-on at oncoming traffic.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office would like to request anyone who may have been involved in the pursuit or may have been run off the road by the driver to contact the Sheriff’s Office to make a statement.

The Sheriff’s Office would also like to remind citizens not to allow their vehicles to run unattended even for short periods.
