The 2014 Coeur d'Alene Resort Holiday Light Show is set to explode Nov. 28, one week from today, over Lake Coeur d'Alene. The fireworks show is presented by Duane and Lola Hagadone and their family.

"The fireworks are a personal gift from the Hagadones to our town," said Jerry Jaeger, president and co-owner of the Hagadone Hospitality Co. "And the show they have ready to go will be extraordinary."

The 2014 Holiday Light Show opening ceremony starts with a downtown parade along Sherman Avenue. By 6 p.m., crowds gather along the lakefront to sing Christmas carols and light candles. More than 30,000 spectators are expected.

Brad Hagadone, president of publishing and media for the Hagadone Corp., will host the ceremony. The guest of honor, Rod Jessick, chief executive chef for the Hagadone Hospitality Co., will lead the crowd in counting down to set off the fireworks show above Lake Coeur d'Alene. Immediately after the 1,200-shell extravaganza, more than 1.5 million lights will illuminate the area.

Jessick was born and raised in Coeur d'Alene, and has worked in the culinary arts for the company for 41 years, starting at the North Shore Motor Hotel. He became Beverly's chef de cuisine when The Coeur d'Alene Resort opened in 1986.

In this 28th edition of The Coeur d'Alene Resort Holiday Light Show, the lights will shine through Jan. 4, with Journey to the North Pole cruises departing nightly across the lake. New attractions for this year's show, organizers say, include a 60-foot-tall animated floating Christmas tree on Lake Coeur d'Alene. Last year's addition, a fire-breathing dragon shooting real flames, continues to be a big hit with cruise passengers, as well as the chance to visit a real live Santa when he reads his "Nice List" of girls and boys.
