COEUR d'ALENE - It was all quiet on the Western front that Christmas Eve 100 years ago, except for the German voice that sang "Stille Nacht."

Yes, even during World War I, enemies became friends for a night in the spirit of Christmas.

That touching tale of peace and camaraderie will be told on the stage of The Modern Theater Coeur d'Alene when "All is Calm" opens tonight at 7:30.

It was an extraordinary night of music and friendship as men from opposing sides put down their arms to enjoy just one night away from the pain and anguish of war. Written by Peter Rothstein with musical arrangements by Erick Lichte and Timothy C. Takach, audiences will witness this historic night as told through the words and the songs of the soldiers who lived it.

During opening weekend, $1 from each ticket sold will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.

"All is Calm" runs tonight through Dec. 21. Tickets range from $17-25 and are available at www.themoderntheater.org.
