Robert 'Bob' William Monteith, 80

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Robert "Bob" William Monteith, 80, of Cataldo, Idaho, passed away Nov. 18, 2014, at the family home in Cataldo. He was born April 25, 1934, in Spokane, Wash.; Bob was the son of Robert Harrison and Miriam (Schultz) Monteith.

Bob and his family moved to Cataldo in 1941 from Spokane. He attended Canyon Elementary School and Rose Lake High School, graduating in 1952. Bob then attended North Idaho Junior College in Coeur d'Alene studying mechanical engineering.

Bob married Joanne Bickerstaff on July 1, 1956, in Yakima, Wash.

Bob first worked at Canyon Garage as an auto mechanic. He then started his own business, Bob's Auto Repair, which he owned and operated for 57 years. Bob also worked for Sverdsten Logging.

Bob was a member of the Mountain View Congregational Church of Kellogg, a member and an EMT for the Rose Lake QRU, a volunteer fire fighter and fire commissioner for Shoshone County Fire District 2, and a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Bob was a private pilot for many years.

Bob loved and enjoyed his family, mechanics, farming, fire fighting and especially enjoyed serving as an EMT. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, scuba diving, snowmobiling and being a musician. Bob enjoyed carpentry work and built the family home. He also broke and trained horses.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Susan Monteith, and sister Beverly Brumfield.

Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joanne Monteith, of the family home in Cataldo; three children: Cheryl (Doug) Stueckle of Coeur d'Alene, Richard (Mimi) Monteith of Spokane Valley, Wash., and Linda Stockton of Puyallup, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sister Barbara (Don) Spellman of Redding, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Bob's Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, at Coeur d'Alene Bible Church, 5350 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene, with Rev. David Langer officiating.

The family suggests memorials may be made to the Mountain View Congregational Church, 525 W. Cameron Ave., Kellogg, Idaho 83837; to the Rose Lake Quick Response Unit, P.O. Box 81, Cataldo, Idaho 83810; or to the Shoshone County Fire District 2, 14 W. Market St., Kellogg, Idaho 83837.
