Lyndall E. Carter, 86
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 10 years, 4 months AGO
Lyndall E. Carter, 86, was born Dec. 18, 1927, to P.J. and Lucille Carter in Scottsbluff, Neb. The family moved to Mica Flats in 1941, where Lynn graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School. He played football and also was a boxer. Upon high school completion he joined the U.S. Navy where he continued his love of boxing. Upon returning home he and his father began Carter Logging Company, which remained intact for 42 years.
In 1952 Lynn met the love of his life, Clarice J. Hansen. They married Feb. 2, 1952, and shared 63 years together. They were blessed with three 'adorable' daughters: Lynda Marie, Debra June and Cynthia Ann.
Lyndall worked in construction, helping build the Grand Coulee Dam as well as the Chief Joseph Dam. He truly had a love for the outdoors. The hunting stories were overflowing, the 'Biggest' fish is yet to be caught, and he also enjoyed gardening.
Lyndall helped to build his church with a hammer in his hand. He regularly ushered and was well known at St. Pius X Catholic Church.
In 1987, Lynn had his family home built on family property at Mica Flats. He started working the land and put his last crop of hay up in 2014! He was active in the Mica Flats Grange, helping annually at the food booth during the fair. He was definitely in charge of the ice cream machine. His woodshop was a sight, but he managed to make wooden toys for many! His "perfection" personality sparkled in his crafts.
Lynn was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers Marvin, Ivan and Russell. He also lost his daughter, Lynda Long, and son-in-law Dave Long.
He is survived by his spouse, Clarice, of Coeur d'Alene; his daughters Deb (Jim) Dahlberg of Bonners Ferry and Cindy Carter of Hayden; sister Lida Little of Caldwell, Idaho, brother Alan Carter of Coeur d'Alene, and sister-in-law Audrey Carter of Coeur d'Alene; grandchildren: Ginger, AJ, Allison, Brittany and Ben; great-grandchildren Cody and Leann; and many nieces and nephews.
Lynn passed peacefully in his home on Nov. 19, 2014. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.
Yates Funeral Homes has been entrusted with the care of final arrangements.
