PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Wallace wins North Star tourney

WALLACE - Maryssa Hogamier scored eight points and Morgan Hill added seven points as the Wallace Miners beat the Lakeside Knights 29-27 in the championship game of the North Star League tournament on Saturday at Kirby Krulitz Court.
"It was a battle," Wallace coach Chris Lund said. "Our defense was outstanding the entire game and every shot they took was contested. Morgan and Gretchen (Farkas) really stepped up to the plate with handling Lakeside's pressure defense and Haley (Brackebusch) did a great job in the post."
Wallace (3-1) hosts Kellogg on Tuesday.
Cailyn Dohrman scored nine points for Lakeside (1-2), which travels to Lapwai on Tuesday.

WALLACE - Katey Mae McInturff scored 20 points to lead the Warriors past the Tigers in the consolation game of the North Star League tournament at Kirby Krulitz Court.
KayeLee Carman, Michaela LaFountaine and Paxton Dotson scored six points apiece for Kootenai (1-1), which hosts Coeur d'Alene Charter on Dec. 4.
Charli Sadler had seven points, 13 rebounds and five steals for Mullan (0-4), which faces Coeur d'Alene Charter on Dec. 10 at Holy Family Catholic School.

ST. MARIES - Sophomore Taryn Horvath scored 20 points to lead the 5A Vikings past the 2A Lumberjacks in a nonleague game.
Kelsey Auer had nine points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots for St. Maries (1-3), which hosts Lakeland on Dec. 4.
"We had a lot of trouble on the offensive end," St. Maries coach Jay Sines said. "Coeur d'Alene did a good job of keeping us off balance on offense. When we got shots, we were rushing them and our shooting percentage wasn't great."
Madisen Scholwinski had 15 points and nine rebounds and Baylie Miller five steals for Coeur d'Alene (2-0), which travels to Sandpoint on Tuesday.

KELLOGG - Janet Lo scored 11 of her 14 points in the second and third quarter, as the Wildcats rallied to beat the Hawks in a nonleague game at Andrews Gymnasium.
"In the first quarter, we were pretty anemic scoring the ball," Kellogg coach Eli Bourgard said. "Janet kind of took over the scoring and made a little run by herself that got us in the lead and the kids did a good job of keeping it in the fourth quarter."
Trista Sheppard scored nine points for Kellogg (5-0), which travels to Wallace on Tuesday.
Costanza Piermattei scored seven points for Lakeland (0-4), which travels to Cheney on Dec. 2.

Kailey Arnone scored nine points and Kiersten Johnson six points for Genesis Prep (2-1), which finished second .
Genesis Prep travels to Upper Columbia Academy of Spangle, Wash., on Dec. 2.
