EPHRATA - Gavin Seim of Ephrata did not get very far with his constitutional activist campaign for Congress, but he hasn't given up his constitutional activism.

Seim is the lead organizer of a "I Will Not Comply Rally" set for Dec. 13 in Olympia. Citizens will rally against Initiative 594 passed by Washington State voters earlier this month..

According to Seim, I-594 brings mandatory gun background checks onto citizens and makes it a felony to privately purchase, or even hand a gun to a friend without government permission.

"We, the people of Washington State, will not comply with this lawless legislation," Seim said. "The highest law is that of liberty and our Constitution. Our rights will be upheld."

Seim said that, in less than 72 hours, more than 5,000 people RSVP'd to stand on the capital grounds in Olympia on Dec. 13 to demonstrate that they will disobey the "illegal restrictions of I-594."

Seim said respected speakers, patriots and families will gather to remind legislators that "lawless legislation will not be obeyed" and to teach others about their rights.

"Will you bow down and lick the boots of tyrants, or will you stand for the liberty of your children?" Seim asked rhetorically.

"We are not asking permission, we are not standing silent," he said. "Our birthright is not theirs to take. We stand peaceful, principled, firm and resolute for the liberty so many have perished for. We stand to uphold law, and we will not comply with lawlessness from government."
