Nov. 20, 1921 - Nov. 17, 2014

Alice "Cissy" Smith passed away on Nov. 17, 2014, just days shy of her 93rd birthday.

Cissy was born in Belknap, Mont. on Nov. 20, 1921, the second child of Alice (Disbrow) and Lewis Engebretson. She married Kenneth L. Smith on Aug. 5, 1939, and together they raised four children in Mullan, Idaho. She worked as a dental assistant for many years in Wallace, Idaho.

Cissy loved walking in the woods, boating, camping, swimming, snowmobiling, bowling, dancing, playing pinochle with her friends, a nice cold beer - and later in her life - watching men's professional tennis. Kenny and Cissy were always on the go, whether to a local location or places worthy of a passport. A prolific reader, she later enjoyed quiet winter days when Kenny would go snowmobiling with his buddies.

After Kenny passed away in 2000, Cissy relocated to Coeur d'Alene. She especially cherished her time with family and friends, and loved to go out for a good meal with them - something she continued to do right up until her passing. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and sharp wit ... and for the most part, putting up with Kenny's antics.

She was active in the Silver Valley community as a member of Eastern Star, Wallace Lady Elks and as a volunteer for the Captain John Mullan Museum.

Cissy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Kenneth L. Smith; brother Don and sister-in-law Marie Engebretson; sister Peggy and brother-in-law Jack Summerkamp; and brothers Anker (age 7 months) and Thor (age 10).

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Judy and Bob Lee of Spokane, Wash., Dale and Linda Smith of Post Falls, Idaho, Peggy Prolo of Kingston, Idaho, and Kim and Dick Listoe of Post Falls, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Cissy's many friends, especially Toni and Julie, Carissa at the Kootenai Anticoagulation Clinic, the staff at Pacifica Senior Living Center, and Hospice of North Idaho.

A celebration of life will take place at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the Wallace Elks Club. Bell Tower Funeral Home of Post Falls, Idaho, has been entrusted with arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the Captain John Mullan Museum in Mullan or the Wallace Elks Club.
