Education leaders join forces

The Northwest Council for Computer Education recently announced a strategic partnership with the Maryland-based State Educational Technology Directors Association.
The Northwest Council - based in Coeur d'Alene with members in Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington - will be part of a three-year affiliate pilot program serving, supporting and representing the interests and needs of state education agency leaders in technology for teaching, learning and school operations.
David Walddon, former president of the NCCE board and current treasurer of the SETDA board, said the partnership will support the success and efforts of both groups.
"Building relationships across regional, national and international organizations is critical for the success of implementing policy and practice that supports 21st-century learning and teaching throughout the education ecosystem," Walddon said.
NCCE qualified to be a SETDA affiliate because it is a regional, multi-state nonprofit member organization that serves K-12 education.
NCCE provides professional learning opportunities to educational professionals throughout the United States and its territories.
Heidi Rogers, CEO and executive director of NCCE, said her organization is excited to be the first nonprofit to participate in the affiliate program.
"Supporting our state education leaders in the Northwest and representing emerging technology interests and needs has always been a key mission for NCCE," Rogers said.
