Three free community Thanksgiving dinners are scheduled for Thursday in Kootenai County.

The meals are from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Fedora Pub and Grille, 1736 W. Kathleen Ave., Coeur d'Alene; noon to 2 p.m. at the Lake City Center, 1916 Lakewood Drive, Coeur d'Alene; and 2 to 4 p.m. at St. George Catholic Church, 2004 N. Lucas St., Post Falls.

"Even with all the growth here, we are all still so small-town when it comes to being there for each other when it counts," said John Malee, owner of The Fedora.

The restaurant is opening its doors for a meal for the fourth year.

"Last year 1,300 people were served and this year we're anticipating 1,500," Malee said.

This will be the 17th year Mike and Vickie Hillicoss are organizing a community Thanksgiving meal, including most of those years at the Lake City Center.

Last year 1,000 meals were served through the center.

There will be live music, a kids activity corner and an appearance by Santa Claus. Attendees will also be given food to take home.

"We want it to be as close to being at grandma's house as possible," Mike Hillicoss said.

For more information, call Hillicoss at (509) 226-3208 or email [email protected].

For more information on the meal at St. George, call 773-4715.
