The following Columbia Falls athletes made academic all-state, having lettered and received a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the first quarter.

Girls soccer — Tallia Gallagher, Joyce Hatfield, Madeline Jarvis, Paige Livingston, Mikayla Thomas, Katie Price, Tavia Bechtel, Sydney Grilley, Ellie Johnson, Katie Hawes, Lottie Ellis, Ally Gimbel and Lexi Strouse

Volleyball — Kaitlyn Cassazza, KJ Schweikert, Winter Kemppainen, Carla Nicosia, Ciera Finberg, Cydney Finberg, Morgan Stenger, Keavyn Baker, Peyton Kehri, Kiara Burlage, Anna Nicosia, Jaclyn Bohmer, Haley Greene and Shaylene Fishel

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
