Dennis Warner Johnson, 74

Dennis Warner Johnson, 74, passed away peacefully at home in Rathdrum, Idaho, on Nov. 24, 2014.

Dennis was born Jan. 13, 1940, in Wahpeton, N.D., to Orvus and Louella Johnson. At the age of seven the family moved to Escondido, Calif.

In 1961 Dennis married Lily Nelson. They both worked at the family grocery store, Nelson's Market. In 1977 Dennis and his family moved to Rathdrum. He retired from Jerry's Body Shop in Coeur d'Alene.

Throughout his life, Dennis enjoyed fixing up hot rods and racing boats. Dennis was also involved with the Sheriff's Search and Rescue for San Diego County. He enjoyed hunting, and fishing at Hauser Lake.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Gary Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lily; son Dennis Jr. (Chrissy) and grandchildren Brandon and Ashley; daughters Lynette Johnson (fiance James Fitzgerald); Kim (Ed) Stubbers and grandchildren Justin (Shady) Stubbers, Brianne, Cassidy, Kaitlin, and Hailey Stubbers.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Kootenai County Sheriff, the Chaplain and paramedics.

There will be a gathering for friends and family from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, at the family home.
