Walter Clifford Ferguson, 84, passed away Nov. 20, 2014, at Hospice House in Coeur d'Alene, surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 2, 1930, in Lewistown, Mont., to Charles and Christine Ferguson.

Walt's early years were spent in Montana before making North Idaho his permanent home. He started working in the concrete business alongside his father until he branched out on his own to form Walt Ferguson Construction. He worked in concrete until his retirement in 2007.

For the past 43 years Walt lived in the home he built with help from his wife, Delaynne, and son, Dan. In his later years when he decided to enjoy the fruits of his labor, Walt traveled with Delaynne to Scotland, England, Hawaii and Mexico.

Through example he taught all of us the value of hard work and honesty, and will be greatly mourned. Rest in peace, Walt, we love you.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Delaynne; his parents, Charles and Christine; brothers Charles and Percy; sister Clara May; and granddaughter, Melanie.

Walt is survived by daughters Sheri (Jeff) Jensen and Cindi (Mike) Wimmer, and son Dan (Pam) Ferguson; grandchildren: Chad (Lisa) Emmett, Chelsea (Robby) Gottas, Angie (Dave) Morrison, Ty Ferguson, Piper (Mark) Mangum, Blake Ferguson and Taylor Jensen; great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Peyton, Maya, Mattie, Mason, Bailey, Talen and Kingsley; brothers Jim (LauraLee), Steve, John, and David, and sister Deloris (Al) Williams.

The memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel.
