Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 10 years, 1 month AGO
COEUR d'ALENE - Original celebrations and classic interpretations of seasonal Christmas music will be warmly shared during "An Evening With Philip Aaberg" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Kroc Center.
The Grammy- and Emmy-nominated pianist will perform selections from his two Christmas albums, "Wild Christmas," and his 2013 release, "High Plains Christmas," and he will be expanding on his performances from last year when he was featured on the PBS broadcast, "Christmas with Philip Aaberg."
"The range of this album reflects a typical Christmas Eve in my memory," he said of "High Plains Christmas," which was released last December. "I wish you all the joy and wonder, peace and excitement, awe and wildness of the Christmas season."
A Montana native, Aaberg is known for his interpretations of the landscapes of the Northwest: the mountains, valleys, forests and plains.
"He is a true composer, as well as a great interpreter," said fellow pianist George Winston. "His music so deeply captures the essence of Montana, and yet it is so universal."
Tickets to "An Evening with Philip Aaberg" are $25 and are available at the Kroc Center, online at www.kroccda.org or by calling 667-1865. The Kroc Center is located at 1765 W. Golf Course Road in Coeur d'Alene.
