UPDATE:
Lookout Pass Ski Area this morning announced that it will postpone its opening day until Saturday.
It had earlier planned to open today.
"Snow and colder temperatures are in the forecast for tonight through Saturday," Phil Edholm, Lookout CEO, said in a press release. "Should that forecast hold true, we should have very good conditions for the weekend."
Edholm said it's best to visit www.skilookout.com for updates and additional information early Saturday morning.

Mother Nature has given North Idaho ski resorts the lift they needed to be open.
Lookout's lifts operate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Schweitzer Mountain Resort near Sandpoint opened on a limited basis last weekend and will be open today through Sunday with lifts running from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Silver Mountain Resort at Kellogg plans to open for skiing, boarding, tubing, snowshoeing and scenic rides Saturday and Sunday. The first gondola ride will be at 8:15 a.m. Skiing and tubing will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Willy Bartlett, Silver Mountain's marketing coordinator, said Wednesday that there's also a possibility that Silver Mountain will open today, snow permitting. Those interested in heading to the mountain should visit www.silvermt.com or call (866) 344-2675 first.
"We will have a limited opening for skiing and boarding, but hopefully we should be getting 9 to 17 inches (today and tonight), which will allow for more runs to open," Bartlett said. "This will be a great chance to get some first tracks for the season and burn off some of that Thanksgiving dinner."
Select runs will be open along with chairs 1 and 2 and the carpet lift.
Silver Mountain on Wednesday reported 2 inches of fresh powder, 5 inches in the previous 24 hours and 15 inches in the previous 48 hours.
Lookout received 9 inches of snow on Tuesday night.
"Coverage is good," said Phil Edholm, Lookout president and CEO.
The snow depth at the base on Tuesday night was 16 inches and 28 inches at the summit with more snow on its way.
"The majority of the front side of the mountain will be open with top to bottom skiing and riding off Chair No. 1," Edholm said. "The beginner triple chairlift, Chair No. 4, will also operate. Additional terrain and lifts will open as soon as possible."
Lookout will reopen Thursday and resume its regular December operations Thursday through Monday. During Christmas break, Lookout will be open seven days a week from Dec. 18 through Jan. 4.
Schweitzer reported 3 inches of new snow Tuesday night and 14 inches in the previous 72 hours. The depth of the snow at the base was 16 inches.
"We've received more than 2 feet of snow in the last three days in the village on top of the snow we've been making," Sean Mirus, Schweitzer spokesman, said Wednesday.
This weekend Schweitzer plans to have two chairlifts open (Basin Express Quad and Musical Chairs).
"We will have some features up in our Stomping Grounds Terrain Park as well," Mirus said.
Schweitzer plans to open seven days a week starting Friday, Dec 5.
