MILESTONE BIRTHDAYS
Roman Peterson
100th Birthday
Roman Peterson was born in Daglum, N.D., 100 years ago on Nov. 10, 1914. He was married to Lillian (Pederson) Peterson for 56 years until her death in 2000.
He farmed and ranched in North Dakota on the family farm for approximately 60 years before moving to Idaho in 2010 to be near his two children.
Approximately 100 family and friends gathered together on Nov. 9, 2014, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Hayden to honor Roman and help him celebrate becoming a centenarian. About 20 family members came from Ohio, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Arizona, Minnesota, North Dakota and Washington. The birthday party included a program of music, memories, historical events over the last century, and a slideshow of Roman's life.
Roman comes from a long line of Norwegians and attributes his longevity to hard work, eating a good breakfast (usually Kellogg's Corn Flakes or Wheaties), having lutefisk and lefse every Christmas Eve and lots of Hershey's Chocolate Kisses! He is in excellent health, has a good mind and memory, enjoys visiting with friends over coffee, going out to eat, taking walks and winning at Rummy!
He says he can't believe he is 100 years old because he only feels about 80 or 85! All Roman's family and friends join in wishing him well as he continues his journey to 101!
