WENATCHEE, Wash. - Jerry Louie-McGee, who dazzled on the football field this fall, hit a 3-pointer with 2.4 seconds left as the Lake City Timberwolves beat the Wenatchee Panthers 50-49 in the nonleague season opener for both teams Saturday night.
"He's a gamer, an unbelievable competitor," Lake City assistant coach Kelly Reed said.
With 1:31 left in the game, Quinn Mitchell picked a good time to score his only basket of the game, as his putback gave Lake City a 44-43 lead.
"We had a ton of foul trouble in the first half," Kelly Reed said. "We were down by as many as 13, but we battled back."
Joe Pasquale had 15 points and six rebounds to lead the Timberwolves.
