POST FALLS - Police are investigating a string of graffiti incidents which occurred in the same general area in central Post Falls.

Vandals tagged property at New Vision Alternative High School, 201 W. Mullan Ave.; the Auto Credit dealership, 120 W. Seltice Way; the Post Falls Library, 821 N. Spokane St.; and the Boys and Girls Club of Kootenai County, 200 W. Mullan Ave., either Friday night or Saturday morning.

The graffiti consisted of several curse words and phrases - all in gold paint.

"We're hoping some information turns up through the schools," Post Falls Police Capt. Greg McLean said Tuesday, adding that no suspects have been identified.

The school's sign, a front door window and an outdoor brick wall were tagged. School staff was able to clean the damage - or paint over it.

Two vehicles at the Auto Credit dealership across the street from the school were damaged with spray paint. The damaged vehicles were a white 1999 Dodge Durango and a green 1995 Ford Explorer. An employee estimated the total amount of damage at $1,000.

The library's northeast side was tagged. An employee estimated that the damage at $200.

Investigators obtained surveillance video from the library to review. A white male in a dark hooded sweatshirt was recorded near the damage at 3:38 a.m., but the video was not clear enough to identify a suspect or reveal more details, according to a police report.

At the Boys and Girls Club, the north side of the building, a chain link fence, park bench, brick enclosure of a Dumpster and a shed owned by the Post Falls School District were tagged. The total amount of damage estimated at the location was $400.

A paint cap found near the club was given to police, but it had been handled by one of the club's members.

Damage at all of the sites have similar handwriting, according to police.

Those with information are encouraged to contact Detective Mark Goodwin at 773-3517 or mgoodwin@postfallspolice.com.
