SANDPOINT — A Blanchard woman caught an alleged burglar red-handed at her home and held him at gunpoint on Monday.

Thomas Jay Dee Burley is charged with burglary and attempted grand theft, both of which are felonies. He faces additional misdemeanor charges of possession of burglary tools and malicious injury to property.

The investigation quickly revealed the heist to be something of an inside job. Burley told a Bonner County sheriff’s deputy he had been planning the break-in for several months with a 17-year-old who lived in the home.
