MOSES LAKE - It's been a frustrating start for the Moses Lake girls swim team.

It's been over two weeks since the EW Swim Kick-off Meet in Ephrata and the Chiefs have yet to hold a true home meet.

Moses Lake was set to open its new pool Sept. 23 against Class 4A state runner-up Wenatchee, however, due to construction delays the meet was moved to Ephrata's outdoor pool, exposing both teams to rain.

Wenatchee ended up beating Moses Lake that day, 114-69.

Head coach Tony St. Onge and the Chiefs were set to open their new pool Tuesday, but a late change Monday afternoon displaced Moses Lake again.

Moses Lake will now swim Eastmont in Ephrata Tuesday at 4 p.m.

The next scheduled home meet for the Chiefs is Thursday, Oct. 9, against Eisenhower.

Moses Lake 101, West Valley (Yakima) 84

YAKIMA - Moses Lake (3-1) faced off against Columbia Basin Big Nine newbie West Valley (Yakima) (0-2) recently and won a close meet, 101-84.

The difference was the Chiefs' ability to reach the top of the podium.

Moses Lake won seven out of nine events and two of three relays.

"West Valley had great depth in their lineup but we were able to out-compete them for the top spot in most events and that was the difference in the final score," St. Onge said.

Anna Fair was first in the 100 fly and 500 freestyle.

Megan Washburn, Shyanne Speed, Jalen Garza and Jordan Richeson also won events.

Heather Carbon continued her dominance on the diving board, finished first.

The relay team of Richeson, Washburn, Fair and Garza took the 200 medley relay while Richeson, Bailey Hammond, Speed and Fair won the 400 freestyle relay.

Girls soccer

Warden 3, Mabton 2

MABTON - Warden girls soccer (1-0, 3-3-1) scored a crucial win against Mabton, 3-2.

The Cougars and Vikings are the only two teams in the Central Washington 2B South division so each meeting can greatly effect playoff seeding.

Jennifer Mendoza scored first for Warden, Mabton (0-1, 1-5) gave up an own goal and Alexis Gonzales' goal gave Warden a 3-1 lead at halftime.

The Cougars snuffed a late Viking comeback to secure the win.
