HAYDEN - Get a haircut and help "save a rack" during the seventh annual "Cut for a Cure" event Saturday at JN Couture Salon in Hayden.
Salon owner Jill Nelmar and her seven stylists will be standing by to provide haircuts and other services to anyone who stops in, and they will be donating 100 percent of the profits, including tips, to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
"It's just a fun day," Nelmar said. "It's just becoming bigger every year and it's something that we will continue to do every year. And everyone needs a haircut."
Clients will enjoy giveaways, goodie bags with hair products and other items, barbecued hot dogs, music from a live DJ and more. Nelmar said the issue of breast cancer is very close to her heart because her grandma, mom and many of her regular clients have experienced it.
"I decided when we opened that we wanted to do something major every year to give back to the community," she said.
Through the years, JN Salon Couture has brought in $27,000 to donate to the foundation. This year, Nelmar hopes to break $30,000, and 75 percent of the funds will stay in North Idaho.
"That's a pretty large portion when I've sat back and thought about the last six years," she said.
Women's haircuts are $30, men's are $20 and kids' are $15. The doors open at 9 a.m. and two facialists and a massage therapist will also be on site. Pink hair strands to add to hair will be $7. Nelmar said firefighters from Northern Lakes Fire District will also be present, selling pink breast cancer T-shirts.
JN Couture Salon is located at 8879 N. Hess St.
