In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Lucky Friday Mine has sold custom T-shirts to its employees in its "Are You Man Enough To Wear Pink" campaign.

Sis Little, HR assistant for Lucky Friday, said she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, and through the Silver Valley Cancer Resource Center she was able to make it to and from all her doctor's appointments. Today, Little has beaten cancer and said she wanted to find some way to give back for all the help she received.

This inspired her to start the "Are You Man Enough To Wear Pink" campaign at the mine, and challenge U.S. Silver and Gold and the Lucky Friday Cementation division to show their stripes.

"I think we are at about 325 T-shirts sold, U.S. Silver is at 190 and Cementation is at 130 I believe," Little said.

Little said a portion of each T-shirt sale will help support the Silver Valley Cancer Resource Center in Osburn. She said almost everybody at Lucky Friday has jumped onboard in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

"Cancer has affected everybody in one way or another, so everybody jumped onboard in honor of their family members and it has been amazing," Little said.

Little said Lucky Friday employees are encouraged to wear their pink shirts throughout the month.

Hecla Corporate brings a mammogram bus and provides free mammograms to Hecla employees and their families, Little said. Since Lucky Friday is owned by Hecla, Little was able to get a mammogram last year which informed her that she had breast cancer. She would just like to give a big thank-you to Hecla for providing this opportunity to its employees.

Little said if anyone else in the community would like to purchase a T-shirt, they are available at Sunnyside Drug in Kellogg.
