The Daily Inter Lake | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 11 years, 11 months AGO
As of early afternoon today, Going-to-the-Sun Road was opened to vehicles from the West Entrance at West Glacier as far as Big Bend.
It is anticipated that the road will be open to Logan Pass from the west side this weekend if weather and road conditions allow.
The road had been closed at Avalanche on Thursday and early today due to snow.
Big Bend is 28 miles from the West Entrance.
Visit the park’s website and the road status page for updated road access information at http://home.nps.gov/applications/glac/roadstatus/roadstatus.cfm.
Visitors traveling Going-to-the-Sun Road at the higher elevations are reminded to drive with care. Visitors should be prepared for snowy, and possibly icy, conditions at the higher elevations, specifically on the trails.
Sun Road is closed east of Logan Pass due to road rehabilitation work.
