MATTAWA - Wahluke suffered its first soccer loss of the season last week, then bounced back to defeat Granger, 2-0, and run its season record to 4-1 and SCAC mark to 1-1.

The loss was by 2-1 to Royal in a shootout. The teams were tied, 1-1, through regulation and extra time. They settled it in shots from the spot.

"We did not convert our shots. Royal City did," Warrior coach Arthur DeVictoria said.

Wahluke opened the scoring in the first half on a goal from Fatima Romero. Royal answered a little later when Wahluke made a defensive error and could not clear the ball.

The Granger match was tight all of the way. The Warriors put it away in the 70th minute when Lluviana Mendoza scored the second goal.

Mendoza received a pass from Liliana Celaya and went 1-on-1 with the Granger keeper. She got around her for the score.

Wahluke opened the scoring in the 34th minute on a goal from Celaya with an assist from Karina Tamayo.

The defense played well all over the field. Keeper Blanca Guitierrez was called on for only two saves
