• Montana officials drop probe into wolf-kill brag

HELENA, Mont. (AP) - Montana wildlife officials have dropped their investigation after finding no merit to a Missoula man's Internet brag that he ran down a pair of wolves on purpose.

Toby Bridges posted on Facebook last month that he accelerated his wife's van near the Idaho-Montana border to intentionally hit a group of wolves that ran across Interstate 90.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks started an investigation, with officials saying harassing or intentionally killing wildlife with a vehicle is illegal.

Agency officials said Friday the carcass investigators found was too decomposed to have died at the time Bridges said he struck the wolf, and there was no evidence of a collision on the roadway or on Bridges' vehicle.

They also could find no sign of a second wolf Bridges claimed to hit and injure.

• Man pleads not guilty to accessory to murder

NAMPA (AP) - A southwestern Idaho man police say helped conceal the killing of a woman by his uncle has pleaded not guilty to accessory to second-degree murder.

Also Friday in 3rd District Court, 24-year-old Jose Cruz Flores pleaded not guilty to destruction of evidence, failure to report a death to authorities and burglary.

Alfredo Martinez, 38, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 36-year-old Selena Thomas. Court documents say Martinez told police officers he hit Thomas with a metal hammer and pushed her into a dresser when she stepped toward him.

The documents say Martinez buried the body in a cornfield south of Melba with the help of Flores and others. Her body was found Aug. 21.

Martinez has pleaded not guilty. A jury trial is set for Feb. 24.

Judge Gregory Culet on Friday denied a request by Flores' attorney, Alexander Briggs, to have Flores' bond reduced from $200,000 to $25,000.

Briggs argued that Flores, of Nampa, wasn't a flight risk because he has lived in Canyon County all his life, owns a home and has family in the area, including a 6-year-old son.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Madison Hamby argued against the bond reduction, noting Flores is believed to have disposed of the murder weapon while his son was in the vehicle with him. Hamby also said Flores helped bury Thomas' body in the cornfield and stole items from Thomas' home.

Police say Daniel Francisco Sena drove Thomas' car back to her home after her body was buried. He's charged with concealing or destroying evidence and failure to notify authorities of a death. He has pleaded not guilty.
