Friday is opening day for Coeur d'Alene Souvenir & Sundry in its new location at 207 1/2 E. Sherman, the former location of Del Sol, which closed with the owner's retirement. Cd'A Souvenir moved from 412 E. Sherman.

The store offers unique gifts and souvenirs made in or about Coeur d'Alene and Idaho. This includes postcards, greeting cards, magnets, key chains, mugs, shot glasses, lapel pins, spoons and books, including local authors and top-selling novels.

Sundry and seasonal items include sun screens, pain relievers, cold medications, batteries, non-alcohol beverages, flip-flops, beach towels, hats, gloves, umbrellas, rain ponchos, tank tops, T-shirts, sweatshirts, custom-logo fleece, soaps and personal-care items.

Owners are Cd'A natives David and Laurie Jaeger. Winter hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. Sundays and extended hours for holidays and downtown events. Phone 664-5303.

LYHITM opens today

Several hand-made items with small mirrors and modern-day hippie jewelry and accessories are offered at LYHITM, which opens today at 315 E. Harrison Ave.(next to Cd'A Barber).

The initials are for Look Your Heart in the Mirror, which reflects (cool pun) the "mirroraculous" moment when founder Jay Johnson said he looked at his heart in the mirror, closed his eyes and said, "This is me. I saw a light when I looked at my heart in the mirror, and now I make LYHITM Mirroracles to shine that light on."

Items include necklaces, headbands, bracelets, earrings and T-shirts. Johnson offers do-it-yourself parties for children. He came to Cd'A from Rapid City, S.D., 15 years ago.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and 10 to 4 Saturdays and Sundays. Phone 667-1011.

Farmgirlfit opens Monday

Farmgirlfit, a fitness center designed for women, opens Monday at 2930 N. Government Way (north of Best Tire).

Coaches guide members ages 16 to 65 through one-hour workouts called "the grind." They lift weights, run, jump, push, pull, climb and sometimes flip a tractor tire.

"Our ladies do things that translate to everyday life," said co-founder and coach Jaunessa Walsh. "It's the most efficient way to be fit."

Members are encouraged to participate in monthly challenges--from eliminating sugar to doing pull-ups to raise money for charities. They may gather for weekend runs and cheer each other on in races.

"Facing and overcoming challenges bonds people," Walsh said. "Everyone here is trying to be their best selves."

Five Gonzaga University graduates started the first Farmgirlfit in Spokane in 2011 and have served about 800 members with their focus on fitness, nutrition and community. Jeni Davaz manages the CdA location.

Classes are Monday through Saturday. Check the schedule at www.farmgirlfit.com. Phone: 665-9898.
